KitchenPods
The KitchenPod is a modern, hygienic, permanent modular kitchen building, which is supplied complete with catering equipment in an easy-to-install pod.
KitchenPods are especially suited to those schools with no current kitchen facilities or who have limited kitchen space which cannot easily be expanded.
An Ideal Solution for Free School Meals
If you require a new kitchen at your school, as part of introducing Free School Meals for Key Stage 1 pupils, or your existing kitchen is too small to cope with the likely increase in demand for school meals, a PKL KitchenPod is the ideal solution. In addition, they can be delivered in as little as eight weeks from order, meaning that they can easily be in place by September 2014 if required.
Arriving onsite fully equipped and ready to connect to services, KitchenPods are available as standalone units or can be linked together to form larger open plan facilities. They can be connected to existing buildings, so can be used to extend your current kitchen space or linked to your dining room. Alternatively, we can also supply permanent modular dining facilities if your dining room needs upgrading, or if you are planning to convert your existing dining room into more valuable teaching space.
Proven Permanent Kitchen Solution
Our KitchenPods are a proven permanent solution and as well as being building regulations compliant, and can be supplied with a 15-year structural warranty and utilising a system which provides a 60-year BBA accredited design life.
Fast Track Building Solutions
Built using offsite construction methods, PKL modular kitchens offer a fast track solution, arriving on the back of a lorry, fully finished and with catering equipment pre-installed. This means they are ready to connect to services and can be up and running in just a few hours. This minimises disruption to your site as only ground preparation works are required.
KitchenPods can be delivered to your school at a time that suits you, including at weekends or during school holidays. Once on site, our in-house team of engineers and kitchen installers will have your KitchenPod set up and ready to cook school meals within a matter of hours.
Available in wood cladding, brick slip, painted or bespoke vinyl wrap finishes, our modular kitchens can be designed to blend in seamlessly with existing buildings onsite or branded with your school's emblem or colours.
KitchenPods comply with food hygiene and health and safety standards as well as Building Regulations, and due to their size, are likely to be fast tracked through planning regulations as a permitted development.
Flexible Financial Solutions
KitchenPods are available for contract rental, lease hire or capital purchase, making them an affordable solution where funding may be restricted but new kitchen infrastructure is still required. There are also a number of different funding streams available for the procurement of school kitchen facilities, and we can offer advice and help in accessing this. PKL provides inclusive service, parts, labour and preventative maintenance visits, both for the building and the catering equipment inside, ensuring that the headache of running and maintaining the kitchen operation remains with us.
PKL can also offer a full training induction for your KitchenPod, introducing kitchen staff to how each piece of catering equipment works and the correct procedure for cleaning. In addition, we will also supply a full set of operational manuals for each piece of equipment and can produce a bespoke user guide for your KitchenPod if required.
KitchenPods are ideal where a fast, cost effective new build kitchen solution is required, providing schools with a great degree of flexibility while conforming to hygiene and building legislation. Modular construction means that disruption to you is minimised while the effect on the environment is also greatly reduced.
